Kuressaare Bishop's Castle

Kuressaare Piiskopilinnus

The main attraction in Kuressaare is its medieval episcopal castle (or Bishop's Castle). It dates from the 14th century. During the Soviet occupation 90 civilians were executed on the castle grounds during a nationwide campaign of terror by the communist regime.
