The house of the brotherhood of the Black Heads has, what must be the most photographed door in Tallinn. The brotherhood was a guild, probably founded at the end of the 14th century. Their patron saint was Saint Mauritius, whose head appears in the brotherhood's coat-of-arms (which you can see above the door). This is also probably the origin of the brotherhood's name.
The brotherhood of the Black Heads had a close relation with the Dominicans of St Catherine's church.
